This handheld Chevrolet Accessories GM NACS DC Adapter is designed for compatible EVs with a CCS1 charging inlet. It unlocks access to DC Fast Chargers with a NACS coupler, including EVgo, IONNA and more than 25,000 stations — and counting — on the Tesla Supercharger network across the United States and Canada. The GM NACS DC Adapter is not compatible to use with Level 2 NACS chargers, including wall connectors and destination chargers. Includes one GM NACS DC Adapter. PLEASE NOTE: GM does not guarantee access to all Tesla Superchargers. Please use the myChevrolet mobile app to locate compatible stations. All charging requires a circuit suitable for the heavy-duty, continuous load of charging. GM warrants the GM NACS DC Adapter against defects in materials or workmanship for up to 1 year from the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. GM will replace the part or parts deemed to be defective, at its sole discretion, at no cost to the purchaser; any associated labor costs, however, are not covered by this warranty. This warranty applies exclusively to the original retail purchaser when (i) purchased via MyBrand App, or (ii) shipped directly to the original purchaser by GM or a GM dealership. This GM NACS DC Adapter is a portable adapter designed to enable a vehicle with a CCS1 inlet to utilize applicable NACS chargers. GM customers can locate applicable Tesla Superchargers through their GM vehicle brand mobile apps.
Place the GM NACS DC Adapter onto the NACS Fast Charger coupler first, and then insert it into the vehicle charge port. Once the charger and adapter are securely in place, you can open your vehicle mobile app and follow the prompts to begin charging. Once a charge session is complete, you may remove the NACS Fast Charger and GM NACS DC Adapter as one unit from the vehicle. (To remove the adapter from the charge station, you will need to push the latch.) You can then close the charge port and remove the GM NACS DC Adapter from the charger, separating the two. GM recommends storing the GM NACS DC Adapter in your vehicle until your next charging session.
The GM NACS DC Adapter is rated for up to 500 amps/1,000 volts. Actual charging rates will depend on a number of variables, including the DC fast charger model generation output, your vehicle’s onboard charging specifics and other factors. Charging rates will vary. Actual range will vary based on several factors, including ambient temperature, terrain, battery age, temperature and condition, loading, and how you use and maintain your vehicle.
You can search for and find Tesla Superchargers, plan a route, initiate a charge and process payment using the GM vehicle brand mobile apps or through the built-in Google feature on your GM EV’s infotainment center. If your vehicle has Google built-in compatibility, you can also use Google Maps on your center display to search for and route to an NACS charging station after changing the adapter setting in charge station filtering. From the map screen, select the Charging Stations icon under the search bar. In the charging stations list, select the Filters icon and navigate to the compatible plugs section. Here you can select your plug type and toggle on NACS. Google Maps on your center display will now include NACS compatible charge stations in its search results and EV trip plans. (Note: Google built-in services are subject to limitations and availability may vary by vehicle, infotainment system and location. Select service plan required. GM EV customers have access to more than 25,000 Superchargers — and counting — located throughout North America. Generation 3 (V3) and beyond Superchargers will be open to GM EV drivers. The Supercharger network is integrated within your vehicle's branded mobile app for you to seamlessly find a charger, initiate the charge and pay for the charge. Select Superchargers available to Tesla drivers only. Please reference your vehicle mobile app to see available NACS stations. The GM NACS DC Adapter is a DC adapter designed exclusively for safe use with the Tesla Superchargers and other DC Fast Chargers equipped with NACS. With the use of the GM NACS DC Adapter, GM EV drivers will have access to V3 and beyond Superchargers along with additional chargers in the network going forward.
GM strongly advises that customers use a GM NACS DC Adapter for charging at NACS compatible fast charging stations, which has been specifically designed to protect GM EV batteries while charging. Damage to vehicle components resulting from the installation or use of non-GM approved parts is not covered under the terms of the vehicle limited warranty and may affect remaining warranty coverage for affected parts.
To ensure GM is supporting customer demand for NACS adapters, the company plans on leveraging multiple suppliers to produce enough volume. While the physical appearance of the initial GM NACS DC adapters may vary, each has been developed and tested to the same standards, helping to ensure customers can charge their EVs safely and efficiently at chargers which utilize a NACS coupler.
Most Bolt EVs are capable of being charged at a DC Fast Charger. However, Chevrolet has informed owners of some MY19 and MY20 Bolt EVs that a software update is necessary to ensure a successful charging experience. Check with your Chevrolet Dealer about the latest software update.
The adapter is portable and can be easily stored in your glove box or center console. This adapter is not designed to be stored outdoors.
